Maryann Wright recently filmed new Australian pilot TV show Subject  to  Change, playing  the  co-lead  role  Karly. In  2015,  Maryann  founded  two  groups –  an  affirmative  action lobby  group  for  women  in  the  arts, Women  in  Theatre  and Screen  and  an independent theatre company, Edgeware  Forum. For Edgeware Forum, Maryann played Millie in Eight at the Sydney Fringe Festival.

“Once again the panel of judges were highly impressed by the calibre of entrants,” says Equity federal president, Chloe Dallimore.

The Equity Foundation received more than 150 applications.

“The Equity Foundation is thrilled to have such a deserving winner and we thank our generous sponsors, the Atlantic School and Foxtel, for making this unique professional development opportunity available to one very fortunate Equity member.” says Dallimore.

Of winning the scholarship Wright says: "Studying acting in NYC has been a dream of mine for such a long time. To be fulfilling that dream at Atlantic Acting School and following in the footsteps of acting greats is beyond my dreams. To live and breathe acting every day in their summer intensive program is going to be a thrilling roller coaster ride. I can't wait to take a bite out of the Big Apple! Thank you Equity for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."

The intensive six-week scholarship at the Atlantic Summer School will take place in New York City from July 5 – August 13, 2016 and is valued at $US3,495. This year, for the first time, FOXTEL is contributing a cash prize of $AU8,000 to assist with flights and accommodation.

The Atlantic Acting School, founded in 1987 by playwright David Mamet and actor William H. Macy, operates as both a private conservatory and an undergraduate program in conjunction with the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. It has the only conservatory program in the world that offers in-depth training in Mamet and Macy’s unique and influential approach to acting: Practical Aesthetics, the Atlantic Technique.
