Elizabeth Kemp Masterclass Melbourne January 2014

Equity and 16th Street Actors Studio are proud to offer Equity Members an opportunity to work with Elizabeth Kemp, Associate Artistic Director of The Actors Studio, New York.

Elizabeth Kemp was one of the youngest members to be admitted to The Actors Studio and has been fortunate to learn from many masters including Lee Strasberg, Elia Kazan, Arthur Penn and Ellen Burstyn.

 

 

 

The Masterclass

This 5 day ‘Character Dream Workshop’, builds on an extension of the character work developed at The Actors Studio that Elizabeth Kemp has created using interpretations of dreams through the theories of Carl Jung. The ‘Character Dream Workshop’ allows the actor to explore and discover the character’s ‘Shadow’ and ‘Tragic Flaw’, and through this process bring the character to the light.

Nadia Tass (AFI Award Winning Film & Theatre Director)

Multi-award winning director and producer Nadia Tass has developed into one of Australia’s most respected and unique filmmakers with her films being responsible for twenty-three AFI nominations, garnering eight wins including Best Film and Best Director. Nadia has worked with actors including Harvey Keitel, Toni Collette, Rachel Griffiths, Ben Mendlesohn, Julia Roberts and Richard Roxburgh.

Alkinos Tsilimidos (AFI Nominated Filmmaker & Theatre Director)
Alkinos has been described as one of Australia’s most important contemporary film directors. He has a reputation for being an actor’s director and is renowned for his uncompromising approach to stories of social relevance. Alkinos directed ‘Red’ and ‘The Mountaintop’ for Melbourne Theatre Company in 2012 & 2013 respectively. In 2014 Alkinos will direct ‘Glengarry Glen Ross’ for MTC.

Kim Krejus (Artistic Director, 16th Street Actors Studio)

Kim is the founder of 16th Street Actors Studio. She is known and respected as one of Australia’s most esteemed acting teachers. Kim began her career as an actor in film receiving an AFI Best Actress nomination and has worked for all major television networks and theatre companies across Australia including Nimrod, MTC and QTC.

Jonah Klein (General Manager, 16th Street Actors Studio)

Jonah joined 16th Street following roles as an Actors Agent at RGM Artist Group, Sydney, and as a Talent Manager at Magnolia Entertainment, Los Angeles, representing internationally acclaimed actors, writers and directors.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must:
1.be a current Equity member
2.be available in Melbourne from January 13 - 17 for the Masterclass.
3.supply their CV, headshot, showreel and a supporting letter from an industry professional.
4.have professional acting credits in feature films, television series’ or roles on main stage theatre.
