The Equity Professional Program

The Equity Foundation hosts more than 100 events a year throughout Australia and New Zealand. The program is developed in close collaboration with performers.

Masterclasses
The Equity Foundation's masterclasses are designed to address our members’ need for ongoing professional development and provide rare opportunities to work with leading directors, coaches and casting agents.
Workshops
Our workshop series is an opportunity to work on specifics, such as acting for the camera, comedy, dancing, voiceovers and accents. Up to 10 members work over a two-hour period with an expert in their field.
In Conversation
As part of the foundation’s In Conversation series, performers are given the opportunity to attend an intimate question and answer session with leading international actors and directors. Sir Ian McKellen, Richard E Grant, Sam Neill, and Cate Blanchett are among those who have participated in the In Conversation events.
Casting Hothouse
Each year the Equity Foundation hosts a Casting Hothouse, which gives performers a unique opportunity to work with international casting agents, such as CBS TV Studios’ vice president of casting Matt Skrobalak and US feature film casting director Margery Simkin.
Student Days
We know how difficult it can be getting a toehold in the entertainment industry, so each year the Equity Foundation holds an industry day designed to provide graduates with important information and tools to help them on their way to a successful performance career.

Miranda Harcourt Step Two Masterclass: Character And Self

02 Aug 2014
10:00:00 -  17:00:00

Event description:

This is a follow up to Miranda Harcourt's previous one day masterclass that she has held in Sydney and previous attendees to Miranda's original masterclass are encouraged to apply.
In this day-long Step Two workshop Miranda develops on-screen naturalism with fresh games, text and inspirational material. Using unique verbatim approaches to text we will delve deeper into the worlds of white space, internal landscape, journey, vista and GISS. We will work on creating characters and behaviours different from our own, using practical, fast, memorable tools. As always Miranda will follow up with notes, references and links so that you can take the work away and apply the tools yourself. Preferance will be given to actors who have taken part in Miranda's previous Equity masterclass as this is a logical follow up masterclass.

Bio of host:

Miranda Harcourt is a celebrated actor of stage and screen and an award winning director. She was Head of Acting at Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School for 7 years. Now she is a sought-after acting coach, here and internationally. From working in prison to working with Hollywood stars, from learning sign language, to devising and publishing a ground-breaking kinesthetic literacy system — these diverse experiences are all distilled into Miranda’s work with actors and directors. Her clear and intuitive system transforms performances for both young and experienced actors. As a coach Miranda has worked with directors as diverse as Peter Jackson, Jane Campion, Gaylene Preston, Jonathan King, Gabor Csupo, Sean McNamara and many others. Two of the films she has worked on have gone to #2 at the US box office. All her work supports the director's vision to reveal authenticity in the world of the film.
