An opportunity for up to 20 NSW Equity members to work with Scott Williams, using his Meisner-based technique which he teachers all over the UK, USA, Hong Kong and now Australia. Over the course of this workshop you can charge up your acting and learn what it is to live in the 'is' world, rather than the 'should' world, as this is the very heart of what it is to be 'truthful' both onstage and in front of the camera. Scott will move you through the basic exercises of Meisner's techniques and show you how this can reinvigorate your acting, especially when the work transitions into text on the second day.
The workshop goes for TWO days… Monday 21 August and Tuesday 22 August and it is preferable that attendees commit to the two days.
The first day will focus on the basic exercises of the technique, exercises that let you "live truthfully."
The second day will focus on techniques involving text, letting you remain alive and spontaneous while still serving the needs of the script.
These 2 days will serve as the two halves to Meisner's fundamental principle that acting is "living truthfully under a given set of circumstances."
This is what some of Scott's students have had to say about his work:
“Scott’s enthusiasm, knowledge, experience, and generosity of spirit made for a rewarding and inspiring time.” – Hilary Bell (The Splinter, Wolf Lullaby)
“If you get the opportunity to learn under Scott Williams, jump at the chance!” – Matt Minto (Shortland Street, The Blue Rose)
“The most stimulating and enlightening training I’ve ever had.” – Marika Aubrey (South Pacific, Redhead)
“A great revelatory experience.” – Dene Kermond (Muriel’s Wedding, Home & Away)
