US Accent For Pilot Season With Katherine Beck

Event description:

An opportunity to spend two hours refreshing your US accent in preparation for pilot season. Katherine will concentrate on General American and successful applicants will need to bring a 1 minute dialogue scene (with a copy for a partner) both prepared in General American. All applicants must have previous training and/or experience in the American accent.

Bio of host:
Born and raised in Chicago, Katherine is a native American accent speaker. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theatre and Film at Columbia College, studied acting at Carnegie Mellon University, the acting conservatory program at The Steven Ivcich Studio and improvisation at Second City and The Groundlings. In Australia she is a graduate in Voice Studies at Victorian College of the Arts. Katherine works regularly with actors as a voice and dialect coach. She has taught at The Actor’s Hub, The Actor’s Pulse, Screenwise and International Screen Academy. Katherine has also worked as a dialect coach for various theatre productions around Sydney. Katherine has served as the Dialect Coach on the feature films, The Scrying and Infini. As a seasoned voiceover actor, Katherine’s worked on Sea Princesses, series 1&2 (Southern Star), Zigby (Flying Bark), CJ the DJ (Kapow Pictures), Gasp!, Davincibles, Just Being Eve, Captain Flinn and the Pirate Dinosaurs, Skinner Boys and Teenage Fairytale Dropouts (SLR). The Katherine is the co-founder and co-author of Hollywood Speak: The Australian Actor’s Resource Guide to Creating an Authentic American Accent.
