Australian actor Guy Pearce has been nominated for a 2011 Primetime Emmy award for his role as Monty Beragon the TV miniseries Mildred Pierce opposite Kate Winslet.
Fred Schepisi’s The Eye of the Storm, Daniel Nettheim’s The Hunter and Jonathan Teplitzky’s Burning Man have been selected for the Toronto International Film Festival – widely considered a “launching pad” into the North American market.

Last night the inaugural Equity Awards, hosted by Equity president Simon Burke, were held at the Ivy Penthouse in Sydney’s CBD. The cast members of Rake and The Librarians received their awards in front of 100 Australian performers, industry leaders and Equity members. The Equity Awards recognise outstanding performances by an ensemble in a comedy series and in a drama series.
