The Equity Foundation is delighted to announce legendary Australian stunt performer Chris Anderson is the recipient of the 2023 Equity Lifetime Achievement Award.

One of Australia’s most experienced stunt performers and stunt coordinators, Chris has contributed his talent and expertise to more than 100 screen productions. Since his official grading as a stunt coordinator in 1982, Chris has spent the last 40 years mentoring and training countless stunt performers through all stages of their careers, with many now representing Australia on the global stage.

Equity president Jason Klarwein says that as well as lighting up our screens with his own state-of-the-art stunts, Chris is a passionate union member and much-admired mentor and leader within the industry, who champions safety and best practice at every opportunity.

“Chris Anderson is renowned for generously sharing his knowledge, experience and time with the next generation of Australian stunt performers and stunt coordinators. Chris has worked consistently, diligently and modestly for the last four decades delivering visually spectacular screen stories, while keeping other performers and colleagues safe. Equity is so pleased to honour one of the world’s finest stunt performers with our Lifetime Achievement Award. He is a most deserving recipient.”

Chris, a proud Equity member since 1976, has been actively involved in MEAA’s National Stunt Committee and National Grading Committee for almost the entirety of his 40-year career.

Chris was nominated by many Australian performers, who described him as a “living legend” who has “done more for the stunt industry than any other”.

Chris says: “It’s an honour to receive this award from my peers, in an industry that is very dear to my heart and feel blessed to have been a part of all my adult life.”

He will be honoured at an awards ceremony in Sydney in May.

This award was launched by the Equity Foundation in 2009 to honour the achievements of a leading Australian performer who has had a distinguished career and been an inspiration to other Australian performers.
