Synopsis

Please note this masterclass was originally scheduled for earlier in 2024 but has been rescheduled for Sunday November 10,  2024. Belting is a vocal technique commonly used in musical theatre, that creates a big, powerful sound, when singing high notes in your vocal range. Belting is an important ‘acting through song’ technique to learn as an actor singer, as it conveys powerful emotions, and adds drama and intensity to a musical performance.  Run by renowned musical theatre performer (and belter) Queenie van de Zandt, this in-person workshop will run over two sessions. In the morning session you will learn simple exercises to discover your belt and improve your technique. The afternoon session will see the exercises put into practice with a select number of participants working with Queenie and a pianist on a song they find vocally challenging.  This workshop is suitable for both beginners and experienced actor singers. Please note that there won't be time for everyone to get up and work with Queenie.  If you have already applied you don't need to apply again.
