Howard Fine
Howard Fine is an American acting teacher and the founder and artistic director of the Howard Fine Acting Studio in Hollywood, CA, and Melbourne, Australia. He is also a theatre director whose credits include directing on Broadway. After completing graduate school in Boston, Fine moved to New York where he landed his first teaching job at The American Musical and Dramatic Academy. After one semester of teaching, he was promoted to head of the Acting Department at the young age of 24 making him the youngest chair in the studio's history. In 1985, Fine moved to Los Angeles with his best friend and now colleague, voice and acting coach David Coury. Fine began his career in Los Angeles by privately coaching students in his living room, but in 1988 had to expand to accommodate his growing classes. His studio is now home to one of the most sought-after training programs for Film, Television, and Theater actors worldwide. Fine’s mentor and close colleague was the legendary Uta Hagen. The famous recording of Uta Hagen’s Acting Class was filmed with Howard at the Howard Fine Acting Studio. Fine and Hagen remained close friends until her death and her work still plays a big role in Howard's teaching. Fine has worked with hundreds of stars and award winners who have garnered accolades from Oscar, Emmy, and Golden Globe wins to Olympic medals and WWE titles. Some of the many recognizable names include Oscar winners Jennifer Connelly and Jared Leto; Oscar nominees Austin Butler, Brad Pitt, Michelle Williams, Salma Hayek, Bradley Cooper, and Will Smith; Emmy winners Kim Delaney, Sela Ward, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and Michael Chiklis. For years, Howard was asked by the Los Angeles Times to analyze the acting of the Oscar Nominees. His Oscar commentary has been featured on Entertainment Tonight, Extra, Access Hollywood, E, Sky TV, BBC, and CNN. In addition to The Los Angeles Times, Fine has been quoted in The Times, The Christian Science Monitor, and USA Today Weekend, and has spoken on numerous radio shows nationwide. Fine has also appeared as himself in numerous reality shows and documentaries including, American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes on Peacock, Earth to Ned on Disney+, NBC's 1st Look, Dance Moms, Confessions of a Teen Idol, Next Action Star, many E True Hollywood stories and A&E Biographies, and much more.
