Synopsis

How do creative professionals use the media and social media to market themselves? What PR management strategies do you need to promote yourself and ultimately get more work? And what about when you DO get work…how do you manage PR and the media then?  And what are the pitfalls to avoid?  For the early to mid career actor. Catherine Lavelle, CLPR, is one of Australia's leading film and television public relations consultant and this will be an opportunity for Equity member Cinzia Lee to discuss these issues with plenty of time for Q and A. Please note: This class will take place online at 12pm AEST and 2pm NZ time.

    CLPR is one of Australia's leading film and television public relations consultants. Having managed campaigns for some of Australia’s most iconic titles, Catherine has built a reputation as one of Australia’s leading film and television public relations consultants specialising in taking productions from script to screen. Following a career where she worked at Warner Brothers, Playpont Films, Hensons and Beyond Films working on titles including Strictly Ballroom, Spotswood and A Woman’s Tale, Catherine established CLPR in 1992 working on features including The Adventures of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Blinky Bill, Innocence, A Woman’s Tale and Exile.  She also manages the corporate public relations profile of the company’s clients, as well as handling the personal publicity requirements for a number of leading film and television identities. Previously the company managed the Australian releases for Fox Searchlight and Sharmill Films amongst others.  The company's slate of current and recent productions includes: Beach Road Pictures’ North Shore, HELIUM's Last King of the Cross, Matchbox's Class of '07, Screentime's Underbelly: Vanishing Act, EQ Media Group/Beyond Entertainment's Troppo, Bunya Productions' True Colours, and previously Endemol Shine Banks' RFDS, Seven Studios' Back To The Rafters, Easy Tiger's Doctor Doctor, the final season of Rake and the second season of Jack Irish Season 2, Bunya Productions' Mystery Road, Beyond Lonehand's Halifax: Retribution, Playmaker's Amazing Grace, Reckoning, The Commons, Love Child and The Code, Lingo's The Secrets She Keeps and Wake In Fright, Blackfella Films' Total Control, Deep Water, Mabo and Redfern Now,  Screentime's Informer 3838​, cloudstreet and Pine Gap, and Dead Lucky.  A more comprehensive biography can be found here.
