Synopsis

Amy Ingram and Emily Tomlin are both actors and co-artistic directors of their respective indie theatre companies The Good Room (QLD) and Elbow Room (Vic). This is a chance for actors and makers who are interested in creating and producing their own work. From acting in extant work in independent productions to the creation of new work this is the chance to get an inside look from the perspective of two artists who have worked across all the facets of the indie world. Please note: This event will take place from 12-1pm Australian Eastern Standard NSW/VIC/QLD/TAS time and 2-3pm NZ time.

  • Amy Ingram

    Amy Ingram is an actor and a maker.  Amy’s recent theatre credits include Family Values, Bernhardt Hamlet , The Seagull and The Odd Couple for Queensland Theatre; Fourteen for Shake N Stir and Magic Mike Live Australia as the Female MC.  Recent Film/ TV credits include In Our Blood as Sister Robina for ABC Australia , Apples Never Fall (Peacock)  , Boy Swallows Universe (Netflix), Joe Vs Carol (Peacock), Bull ( NBC) and independent feature Demon Disorder . Amy also co founded independent theatre company The Good Room ( I Should Have Drunk More Champagne, I Want To Know What Love Is, I Just Came To Say Goodbye, I’ve Been Meaning to Ask You , One Bottle Later , Red Light , Let’s Be Friends Furever) whose works have toured Australia to audience and critical acclaim. In 2024 Amy will appear in the Australian Premier of POTUS .
  • Emily Tomlins

    Emily is co-founder and co-artistic director of the award winning independent  theatre company Elbow Room. Emily has worked as an actor, creator, collaborator and director with various companies and festivals including Elbow Room, Polyglot Theatre, Playable Streets, VIMH, JOF, Musica Viva, Sydney Theatre Company, Queensland Theatre, La Boite, State Theatre Company South Australia, Malthouse Theatre, Terrapin Puppet Theatre, Melbourne Theatre Company’s Neon Festival, the Melbourne, Darwin, Perth, Brisbane, Poppyseed and Flight Festivals, Fabricated Rooms, Everybody Dance, Collyer/Kerridge, Darebin Arts Speakeasy, Restaged Histories Project, Queensland Arts Council, Bell Shakespeare Actors at Work, Four Larks, Daniel Schlusser Ensemble and The Hayloft Project.  Emily was part of the Queensland Theatre’s Emerging Artist Ensemble in 2006 and in 2017 she was awarded a Sidney Myer Fellowship. She is currently Associate Director at Polyglot Theatre.
